My close to clean eating day. Honest it was really close!!

I know, I know it's been a while since I've bothered with the blog.  Time flies when you are having fun. This post is for the benefit for all who are in on the Clean Eating Challenge. For those who haven't heard I have challenged my workout group to have one clean eating day a week. Doesn't sound that difficult does it? As we proceeded to work through it I found that a lot of people are scared to eat because they are worried about it being clean so they are living on the most basic of food. In an effort to help with some variety I am posting my clean eating day.
Here it goes!!
Breakfast: 1 tbsp of Qia cereal with one container of fat free greek yogurt and a banana. Yummy!

Lunch:
Baby spinach salad with diced chicken breast, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. I did also cheat a little with my asian sesame salad dressing:(

Snacks:

Love these dark chocolate cookies. They are a somewhat healthy choice compared to so many others. That and the raw almonds were there for my mid afternoon snack.

Supper:
This was really good and super easy! Turkey chili made with ground turkey, mushrooms, carrots, onions, garlic diced canned tomatoes, brown beans (I was out of kidney)  and chili powder in the slow cooker. Epicure chili seasoning is totally the way to go. I ate this with a side of sauteed fresh mushrooms and steamed california mixed vegetables.

Dessert:
In my household we don't usually have dessert but tonight I had some apples that were getting soft so I peeled and sliced them, sprinkled them with stevia and cinnamon and about 2 tbsps of water. Baked it in the oven for 30 minutes. Served it with a little vanilla yogurt and yummy!!

As for the day's beverages they were black coffee, ice water, and green tea. I'm not much of a milk drinker and this is pretty much a normal day of drinks for me. The most unclean thing of the day was of course the cookies and then the yogurt. Today as I went through the grocery store I discovered that even plain greek yogurt has 4 grams of sugar. It's not worth eating if it tastes that horrible. So, it is a concession I am willing to make. For me the focus of clean eating is to have the majority of my food be fairly unprocessed and in that I think I succeeded enough to make myself impressed.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas for your next clean eating day!
