Day 1 sugar detox

My time has come again!
There seems to be a time when sugar starts to take over my life. I think the yo-yo dieting has definitely been part of the problem. Today is the first step to a new relationship with food.
Step 1 Eliminate refined sugar
What does that mean?
No cake, cookies, candy, pop. Etc
Basically eating clean whole foods.  I find that a clean break is best for me. For accountability I shall post photos of all I eat (aren't you lucky!). This is breakfast.
Whole grain toast with natural peanut butter and vanilla Greek yogurt with a teaspoon of Chia seeds.
Next post will have snacks and lunch!

Day 4 of p90x 2

Well p90x total body workout rocks!!! 67 minutes of all over moves. I can't do push ups on medicine balls yet, but I know I have something to aspire too. It's great to get your heart rate up during a primarily resistance workout. The new ab workout is great as well. No traditional crunches but I am sure I will feel it tomorrow:) its amazing how working out makes you take care of your diet more too. I have been treating myself to some treats, but making sure that they fit into my calorie total foe the day. I think it's important to not deprive myself in that way, for me DIETS DON'T WORK!! I need a balanced common sense approach to eating. Yay!! So far it's working. How very exciting!! BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. Day 2 with Tony Horton

Day 2! Yay!!
That means I survived day 1:)
The workouts seem to be easy for me to commit to but the food has always been my struggle. In the past I have started changing my life guns a blazing!! I go hard for 6 months or a year and then gradually I fade out and 6 months later I am almost back where I started. This time I am trying the more moderate approach with food. Balance instead of all or nothing. Day 1 was a success, no feelings of deprivation but no crazy eating either!!
Now, let's talk Plyocide. I was dreading it a little as I have very strong memory of plyo from p90x, and with not being in too condition I thought I might be dead by the end of this workout. Luckily for me, Tony Horton is a genius!! There were only a few moves I struggled with and the modifiers were awesome! Don't get me wrong it's still a tough workout, but it at least felt manageable!

Hmmm, do diets really work

During my years of weight loss adventures I have tried many, many things. I have done almost every diet there is, and I have done some counseling as well. There seem to be a couple of different approaches to the whole idea of lean for life. There is the school of thought that says move more, eat less, all good!! Way too simple! From this way of thinking every diet and workout plan known to man has emerged. And they still keep coming. Do you ever wonder why that is? Is it maybe because the whole premiss is wrong and so they have never found the perfect eat less move more plan??
I know for me the hardest part of losing weight and getting lean is staying there. When I use the eat less move more principle there comes a time when I simply can't eat any less or move much more and yet I still haven't achieved my goal. Plateaus kill me! Every time that I have hit one it challenges the principle. There has to be more to the story.
I think my thoughts and more specifically my thinking habits have so much more power than they ever get credit for. I can be 5 pounds from my goal weight, have one bad day and feel like I have gained 20 pounds. The worst part about this is i start thinking like I'm a fat person, instead Of the lean person I am and that I want to be. Guess what happens next? I become the fat girl I think I am and quickly lose all the ground I have gained. Ugh.
So what about the other schools of thought? At this time I'm more inclined to believe that I need to work on my head space more than anything else. If I truly want to be lean for life then I truly need to change the way I think. The way I think about myself, about food, about what I want and about what is achievable.
